31/3/1995 - 21.00hrs, the start of the second Teknoville "live" broadcast at Cherry Moon. If i remember well (and yes, for that kind of stuff i tend to have a good memory) this was my first night ever at Cherry Moon. How i had been looking forward to this one ... the tapes of the first edition had been on repeat for a year :)

Yves Deruyter had the honour of opening the night, followed by Zzino. As you'll hear, this is not really what you call a "warming-up set". No need to prepare, full speed to start your evening: YDR plays a typical Cherry Moon-selection, and Zzino bangs it even harder with lots of Reload-stuff.

As the story goes, the tapes of this Teknoville-night were on repeat again within the following year, our "warming-up" when we drove back and forth to Cherry Moon in a Peugeot 205 :)

And as the story goes further my tape got lost, but luckily i recently received an unedited copy through Soundcloud (thx "Steven Highway"). For your listening pleasure i cut out all the interviews of this StuBru-broadcast, in order to have one continuous mix without interruptions.

Sound-quality isn't 100%, but i'm sure the tracks will make up for that.

The set was recorded from Radio 21 (and includes some comments) at NYE 95-96 => 5.30am till 6.30am, on a night like that i'd say that's peak-time :)

The dj's i mean, not the band. Here's a 90 minute mix by Pierre & Deg, both residents at Fuse ever since the early days and still bangin' the floor every weekend in 2010 AD. This makes me wonder who else has had such a long residency in 1 club ... the only one i can think of is Marko at La Rocca (dunno if he's a weekly or a monthly resident there nowadays). Anyway, if you can think of someone else, drop it in the "comment"-box.

Over 4 months since my last post and what can i say? A new personal record? :) No seriously, i've been busy in lots of ways.

One of the things i've been contributing to is Red Bull Elektropedia, an online ever-growing archive on Belgian electronic music and nightlife. That's right, history is being written down finally, and the past looks bright!
I'd be surprised if you haven't heard about this initiative, and ifso, please check it and help them out to complete the past. If you have any rare footage, exclusive flyers, pictures, videos, or some nice memories to share ... make your contribution. As long as it concerns Belgian Electronic music, anything goes.

The part of me that lives in the past thought it was about time to put some new Teknoville-recordings online. I won't tell you again how legendary these nights were, since the info is already on this blog. About the venue ... Cherry Moon, if you're in a nostalgic mood their flyer-collection is a nice way to get started on RBE.
As for the line-up, check the flyer :)

That's right ... Galaxie, not Galaxy. A radio-station in the north of France founded in 1981.
In the early nineties they decided to start programming 100% electronic music, and this made them a great inspiration during my youth. Techno, house, trance, elektro, ambient ... 24hrs a day. Can you imagine how happy i was when i discovered them at 95.3fm? (nowadays you can join them through their livestream).

The set underneath is a random recording i did on a fridaynight in 1991. It's a continuous mix (no chit-chat whatsoever) packed with rave-jams. This 60-minute-mix is one of my personal favorite sets ever (and i have quit a few). Maybe i'll try and make a tracklist in the next few days, but for now just have a listen.

I know it's been ages since i posted a new mix (and i also know that i say that almost every time :p) ... so here's something to end your weekend, or to kick off a new week.
A set by Kevin, recorded at Balmoral in 1996. I don't think Kevin needs any introduction (and neither does Balmoral). As a dj he always seemed to give his sets that extra touch thanks to excellent mixing skills and an extraordinary taste in music. His backspins are legendary and so are his "eighties" influences (a little hint in the video underneath).

So here's a little challenge ... i went through my tape-collection last week and picked this set out, put it into my tape-deck and pressed play. I was surprised, not only by the energy but also by the sound quality which had remained very good (maxell xl2 :)).
Only 1 problem: the dj's name wasn't tagged on this tape. So i have the name of the club, party, date and even a flyer (thx to www.atribute2cherrymoon.com) ... time for the experts to have a listen and tell me who's playing (could even be 2 different dj's).
Enjoy this piece of techno, i'll try and edit this post once the panel has decided who's behind the decks :p

Over a month and a half since my last post ... let's say i've been rather busy doing other stuff (like partying my ass off from Antwerp to Leuven over Ghent).

First of all a happy new-year to all of you, hope you'll have some splendid parties in 2009.
This year will be rather busy for me (constructing my house), but i'll try to keep this blog alive be feeding it with some new sets every now and then.
First runner up: dj Marko, who will always be associated with La Rocca. Mind you, he had some other residencys to a.o. in the legendary At the Villa (Kooigem), but also at Fuse 2nd room BUMP (better known as the Motion-room). Round '96 he played on regular basis alongside dj Phi-Phi. The set underneath was recorded at the 2 years Fuse-night and it's my favourite Marko-tape. If anyone ever asks you what trance or club-music sounded like in '96, please offer them this tape.

I don't understand why people are always nagging about the lack of interest in electronic music in the media. Let's be honest, over here in Belgium there's no reason to complain.
Ever since the early '90s national radio Studio Brussel made their contribution thanks to Teknoville, taking over the airwaves every friday and saturdaynight. About 8 years ago Teknoville got a serious make-over, and from then on it was renamed Switch ... an other name, but still a great (and similar) concept!

Today, after over 15 years of electronic music on national radio it's finally time to make a summary and chart the 100 best dance-tracks. How to do this? By sending a top5 to this link.
I strongly advise everyone to participate in order to keep high standards :p

Needless to say how hard it is to choose 5 tracks. But on the other hand, 10 or 20 would be just as difficult.

Just kidding, 2 weeks in Ibiza were great ... but now it's back to work again. Luckily i've got some tunes to keep me going :)

This thursday Studio Brussels turns into Studio Dada with a Teknoville-special (23hrs-00hrs). Expect some rare and hilarious footage, interviews with Rudy Victor Ackaert (Teknoville/Culture Club), Jeroen Roppe (former presenter) and Renaat Vandepapeliere (R&S) ... and of course some nice tunes.

"Good evening Brussels, tonight i'm gonna take you on a little tour ...". The tour is called "teknoville", and it features 2 excellent sets.

First one is the live-act Green Velvet did that night. His last album wasn't what i expected it to be, but his early works are incredible. I remember looking forward to every new record he made, because you just knew it was gonna be a bomb. Flash, Preacherman, The Stalker, ... they're all in this set, and because it's a live-act you can also here the crowd go nuts.
Hope you'll enjoy this one, next up is another goodie by Franky Jones (i'll try and post it later this week).

It's sunday, and i'm feeling housy thanks to Derrick Carter's set at Decadence last friday. What else to post but some good old Respect-tunes?
Here's a set Stuart Mc Lellan did back in '99. You may think "who the f* is ...?" Well that's what i was thinking too. Anyhow, even if you don't know him the set is definitely worth checking. Some featured tracks an memories:

E-Troneek Funk's "Everytime", one of my favourite tracks on the Famous when Dead compilations, and often played in H2o-club (white room).
Kenlou's "What a sensation": classic Masters At Work stuff, first heard it in an Amsterdam-tape (recorded at Escape club).
Moodyman's "I can't kick this feeling when it hits": reminds of the first 10daysoftechno at the Red Tape building.

I also have another recording of that same night featuring a live by The Micronauts and a Troublemen-dj set ... will post that one later.

there's a doctor in the house ...

... and his name is Dr. Jones aka Franky Jones. He's been around a bit longer than the other doctor, and is one of the pioneers in the Belgian electronic scene. His dj- and production skills have opened doors all over the world. May-day, I love Techno, Loveparade, you name it he did it. The first time i saw him perform was at The Voodoo Eclipse (july 1995), he distincted himself from other dj's that night by playing in a more progressive kinda way, and that's the way i like his sets. One of my favourite sets was the one he did at the Teknoville-party in Fuse.

Anyway, after a sabbatical Franky is back in full force and within the next few months his name will start popping out in numerous party-calendars again. One of those "calendars" is on Legendaryclubs, and that's where i asked Franky what HIS favourite set was, so here goes the little story ...

"I had received a booking, but didn't actually know where it would take place. I met the organisers near a gasstation, and from there on they would take me to the crimescene :)
The rave was called Tribe-festival and took place in the woods of Arlon (Ardennes). It was a Goa-night, and i didn't know any of the other dj's. Although i was supposed to do a 2-hour-set, i ended up playing for 4 hours by popular demand of a wild crowd. It was one of my best sets that year. I never saw a flyer of the event or any info on the internet, but still about 800 people found their way into the woods that night."

The set is a 4-hour continuous mix, recorded in excellent quality and with some extra remastering on the sound afterwards (he's a perfectionist).

To be honest i had my doubts whether i would post this set: the sound quality is ok and so are the tracks ... but the mixing isn't all that good (but that's not my fault is it?).

Consider this set "one for the fans" or a memory for those who were there (like me).

So why am i posting it now? Well, someone requested a re-post on the Derrick Carter-set recorded that same night and this one's highly recommended. If you haven't got it yet: grab it!

Not a re-post this time, instead some new Steve Cop stuff.
The Scene was a pure techno-club and opened its doors in '98. Resident-dj's Zzino and Steve Cop invited guests such as Jeff Mills, Adam Beyer, Ian Pooley, Mike Dearborn ... in a monastery near Oudenaarde. Even though the club looked nice, the line ups were great and the soundsystem blew you away the place was shut down after a few months due to a lack of visitors.
Would this club still be open if it were in Ghent, Antwerp or Brussels?

Here's the result of a busy week: my mix for Bar d'Oh's lingerie-défilé. I recorded it last week, and this weekend the Mademoisselles de Gand took a walk and a dance at the Sex and the City "the movie"-afterparty in Antwerp.

For images you'll have to use your imagination, but if i get my hands on some footage i'll post it for sure!
The mix is only 20 minutes, i hope you'll enjoy it ... and if you don't, maybe your girlfriend will make you :)

Time for another Fuse-resident post ... Trish. Belgium's leading techno lady has been spinning at the club since the early years.

Her style is very Detroit-influenced, and one of her all-time heroes is Derrick May. Her energy behind the decks is comparable, and so is the way she likes to cut cut cut the melody.

The set was recorded in march '98 ... oh crap, that's over 10 years ago.

One of my top-5 favourite clubs ever is H2o in Pecq, i got to know it thanks to the At The Villa/Le Café-nights in '96 (fridays).

The club has always been booming, and for a while they even had 3 rooms running.
Downstairs played Vince and Johan, upstairs Laurent Warrin, and in the techno-room you could listen to some techno with a.o. Steve Cop.
After a make-over the techno room has disappeared (and to be honest the genre wasn't all that popular in the club in those days).

Nowadays the only original resident left is Johan, he still rocks his "houzy" white-room. After all those years the club can still be considered as an example to others with its innovating line-ups, surprising concepts and personal approach. Always a pleasure to be there!

It can't always be techno, can it? It took me a year and a half to post my first jungle-set. Or is it drum'n bass? Whatever!

I ripped this set from the Groove 21 night, organised and broadcasted by Radio 21 in 1995 . The line-up was very eclectic: Mo & Benoelie, Carl Craig live (a repost on those 2), A Guy Called Gerald live, Mark Broom, Jan & Niels Zanzi (whatever happened to those guys?) ... these are the ones i remember. If anyone has some further information on the rest of the line-up, please let me know.

As for the Mark Broom set: i'm not sure if it's really him behind the decks because it's a trip-hop set (i just based my info on the mc announcing him). So once again, some help id'ing this set would be nice.

April 30th ... 1996 that is! Exactly 12 years ago i went to my first so-called "retro" party.
I could be wrong, but wasn't this like the first retro-night ever? The theme of the night was a tribute to the most legendary Belgian club: Boccaccio (which had been closed down in '93) and took place in Cherry Moon. Behind the decks: Olivier Pieters, former resident and producer of the Bocca-anthem "Even Now".
This night was the perfect oppurtunity for me to catch up with the early house and new-beat years i had missed. The atmosphere was amazing that night, and so was the slightly different crowd (a bit older than on a regular Cherry Moon-night).

Ripping this club's tapes was easier than finding it's logo, but after a little dive into my basement i finally completed this post.

For those who don't know the club: the former swimming pool in Waregem first opened as "Carioca". Round '92 it was renamed "Cirao" and made it's way into clubbing history. Most people remember it as a trance-club with residents like Phi-Phi, Fred Nasen, Yves LBQ, Laurent Warin, Nicolas, Philip Traikos.
The line-up also featured international guests like Blake Baxter, Stacey Pullen and some guests from the Amsterdam-scene like 100% Isis, Marcello, ... who added a fair bit of house and techno.

As promised here's another Steve Cop goodie, recorded at a Kozzmozz party in '96. "K" is one of the leading techno-events in Belgium and has certainly earned its spot in our clubbing history.

It all started in '95 on a jampacked boat. Due to the succes of the parties changes had to be made and a bigger venue was found: ICC. Later on the concept moved to the Kuipke and nowadays their homebase is at Vooruit (same location as 10daysOff).
Lots of venue-changes but still in Ghent after all those years ... except for some excursions to Brussels, Holland and even Ibiza.

A few weeks ago a friend of Steve Cop mailed me to see if i wanted to rip some of his tapes ... didn't take me long to decide :)

In the early nineties Steve did a few productions for the R&S-label as Sonic Solution (ao Beat time, and Ravesignal II together with CJ Bolland) but most of you probably know him as a dj.
A few of his residencies: H2o, Café d'Anvers and Silo (Loop-parties).
I'll try and share some of this stuff with you in the next few weeks.

Time to take a little step into the unknown. I'm posting a mix ... but i'm not sure who's playing.
The thing i like about it is that it was recorded at the very beginning of the night, probably by one of the residents (Deg?).

While most of you know Fuse as a techno-club, early clubbers know you can often enjoy some laid back dubby tunes at 10 o' clock, followed by some lazy house, smooth techno and as time goes by: the stuff people really came for :)

One of te tracks at the beginning of the set is The Orb's "Blue Room", my god how i love that track! While doing some research on youtube i discovered some other Orb footage: here's a little piece of the live-show they did in Vorst Nationaal back in '95, the track is called "Towers of Dub".

Sometimes i have the impression dj's used to play more crowpleasers back in the days (for me that's "the nineties"). Or is this a false impression and did those unknown tracks become classics as time passed by?
A question worth thinking about!

Anyhow, some classics in the sets underneath: Arkest Blaze, Women Beat Their Men, Bassline and Goodlife(his own stuff), the inevitable French Kiss, ... but also plenty of forgotten tracks and discoveries.

A legendary Belgian club famous for its music, dj's, label and above all its people.

Underneath is a 2h30-set by the Chicago kid and founding father of the Radikal Fear recordlabel, and as usual for my techno-rips it was recorded at Fuse.

The past few years Felix has been discovering new paths and as a dj/producer/remixer he was more into the elektro kinda approach. His Silver screen Shower scene-track totally relaunched his career and was a blueprint and instant classic for todays elektroclash-scene.

Check the set and maybe you'll already hear some elektro-influences in it, also pay some attention to the track at about 15-16min, imho it sounds a bit like an other elektro-anthem, released in 2001.

A while ago i did a post dedicated to T-Quest (an ex-Fuse resident), but if there's one dj who's been there since the early days, and who still rocks this club every weekend, it's dj Pierre.

Pierre started his carreer in the legendary 55-club (Kuurne), and a few years later he and clubmanager Peter Decuypere moved to the number 1 techno-club in Belgium. Pierre Noisiez is also responsible for one of my alltime favourite mix cd's: Dj connection presents Pierre.

Nowadays he's completely into hypnotic minimal sounds, never losing track of time he still does a great job every weekend. Besides being a dj he's also involved in the Lesizmo:r and Ltsmk concepts.

It's been a while since i posted something for the legendary clubbers, so if you're not into techno, here's your chance to grab something different.
The man with the tie is Paul van Dyk, voted nr.1 dj in the world several times (although nowadays the Dutch alliance is taking over) and you could say he's one of the trance-godfathers.
In 1993 Paul mixed the first edition of X-Mix, an excellent combination of music and graphics (released on cd, vinyl, vhs, dvd ... the vinyls are indisposible in any collection!!).
In 1994 he released his breakthrough-single "Emergency", followed by other successes like For an angel and My World.

In 1998 he made his appearance in Fuse on a friday-night for a trance-special and that was the only time i saw him perform.

It's been a while since my last post, but don't worry, there's still plenty of stuff to spread ;)
Up for grabz is an hour of Johannes Heil, followed by an additional 10 minutes by a Fuse-resident. I think it's a live-set, but i'm not 100% sure (99%). Besides some nice techno-tracks there's also some downtempo stuff in the set, as Johannes is a very broadminded producer.
I would be lying to say that i've been following his career throughout the years, but the first time i remarked him was when he released "Paranoid Dancer" ... his contrubution to techno-history, an absolute classic!

Request done ;) a while ago someone asked me to post a set by T-Quest (formerly know as "dj Stefaan" ... remember Teknoville-party?) so i did.

For Belgian readers T-Quest needs no introduction at all, he's a regular guest at Fuse, and was also part of their resident-team for a while.
As a producer he made his contribution to the techno hall of fame with the Upiter-track, one of my favourite releases on the Music Man-label.

Nowadays he has a residency at the Kozzmozz-parties, and according to some he also has a hidden agenda and enjoys playing elektro-tracks, wearing a tuxedo and looking like The Hulk's thin brother.

Lately i've been posting lots of sets by "guest dj's" at the Fuse-club, a bit unfair towards the resident-dj's, isn't it?
Warming up, trying to keep a vibe, and sometimes (often?) even outclassing the guests ... throughout the years these jocks earned their spot in Belgian nightlife: Pierre, Trish, St-Dic, Deg, T-Quest to name a few.

Deg joined the Fuse-team in 1997 after showing his qualities at AB-Sounds, Mauna Kea, Borsalino, BWP-experiments, Rave Explosion, Network, PK-Studios and even May-Day. Nowadays, he's still part of that same team and usually spins in the main room.

It seems to get harder by the day to keep my sets online ... so grab this one as fast as you can. In the meantime i'll try posting an update on what's online and what isn't by the end of the week (or month, year, decade?).
Here's over 2-hours of Carl Craig, as usual a set recorded at Fuse. To be honest i haven't been the biggest fan of his dj-sets the last years: a part of his tracklist never seems to change. This is like an exception (maybe because it was recorded over 7 years ago).
It sets off in a very laidback houzy kinda way and slowly enters a Detroit spectrum called techno. Tiny details: the first 8 minutes of the recording are played by one of the Fuse-residents.

Posting artists who are related to R&S seems to have become a habit of mine ... or just a coincidence.
Uk-born and Belgium-based Christian Jay Bolland (dj/producer) started of on the label in 1991 with his Ravesignal-series.
Alongside Frank de Wulf he was one of the first Belgian dj's to gain succes abroad. Nowadays he's still in high demand, not only solo, but also together with Tom Barman under the Magnus-alias.
The 2-hour set underneath was recorded at Fuse in 1999, 2 years after he released one of his biggest successes: The Prophet. It's a very solid mix, mainly techno. Go! Bang!!

I'm back after a 2-weeks stop in France (Provence & Corsica), which were both very nice ... but that's probably not what you're interested in.

So here goes: underneath's a link to a 2 hour set by Kevin Saunderson, 1/3th of the Belleville Three.
I had the pleasure of hearing him spin already a few times (Teknoville a.o.), but the past few years i often have the impression he plays to hard (or i'm getting to old).
Luckily this Fuse-set is rather housy, and filled with a fair amount of unknown tracks + some classics near the end of the set.

Here's one of my alltime favourite videos: Ken Ishii's breakthrough-track Extra. The video's just as excellent as the song itself. The release came with a few excellent remixes, hard to choose which one's the best ... Dave Angel did a great uptempo track, but the more breaky Wagonchrist-remix was truly amazing (that bass sound just blew me away).

I saw Ishii perform only once, when he did a dj-set at I love Techno (the first or second edition at Flanders Expo i guess). His set was very diverse, blending techno with house, breakbeats and some olskool sounds.
Underneath's a comparable set, recorded at Fuse. You've been warned: expect more than just techno.

There since the early days, and planning to stay ... 6th of october he's back in Ghent again at Kozzmozz.

The only time i saw him perform was years ago at the 10daysofftecho-festival (in a former bowling), also in Ghent.
The connection with my hometown is rather easy: it's home to the R&S-label, which played a big role in Beltram's succes. In 1991 they released the rave-anthem "Energy Flash" (released earlier on Transmat). The track turned into an instant classic and gave him the chance to play all over Europe. And guess what? One of his stops was at the Fuse-club.

One of the residents since the early days is dj Deep. After all these years he's still as popular as he used to be, that's why he'll be playing alongside Dennis Ferrer on the 29th of august at Le bateau Concorde Atlantique.

Kinda strange ... i've been posting Fuse-recordings for some time, but it took over 6 months for the first Dave Clarke-set to appear on this blog.

Clarke used to be my favourite dj for some time (after his legendary "Eurodance" set), but lately i haven't really been following what he's been up to.

Underneath you'll find a 90 minute mix Steve did at Fuse in 1994. It was online some time ago (before i started up this blog), but it seems like a lot of people missed it at the time, so here's the repost. As a part of the Antwerp-scene Steve played alongside the world's best dj's, mainly thanks to his residency at Café d'Anvers. Nowadays he's become a familyman and still does some dj'ing every now and then (but not often).

The mix sets of in a housy mood with Carl Craig's remix of Tori Amos' God, from there on it slowly builds up to end in techno-mayhem.

The adress of the notorious Fuse-club ... but also the same building that hosts/hosted Mad Club and La Démence.

Underneath are 2 recordings of those concepts.
First is a 75 minutes-Mad Club set, it features resident dj's Yves Deruyter and Rudy. The club used to be open every wednesday -but that seems like ages ago- and was managed by Boterham (slice of bread if you prefer :)
The second set, fortunately is only 35 minutes (short impression), it was recorded in La Démence by resident-dj Elias, as featured in this picture. La Démence is a gay concept, it's still running after all those years (monthly).

Underneath's a link to a 2h30 mix by Sven Väth, recorded at Fuse in '98. Väth's been at the top for over 15 years now, and it seems like he'll stick to that spot.
I saw him play earlier this year (once again ... at Fuse) and it was one of the best sets i'd heard in months.

Derrick May have a temper, but he's one hell of a dj

No need to introduce this techno-don. I saw him perform a few times and i especially liked the way he blends techno with house (and the odd classic) instead of pinpointing to one style.
Usually his mixing skills are top noch, but once i saw him have an off-day in the Vooruit venue at a Teknoville-party.
Due to technical problems that night mixing wasn't as smooth as it should be, so when it really got to Derrick he just took his headphones and threw them into the backstage area.
Therefore "temper, temper" in this thread's title.
The set underneath sets of with some ultrafunky house, and from there on evolves further into Detroit and straight-ahead-techno. Enjoy these 72 minutes (there's a little skip during Green Velvet's "Coïtus"-track ... skip... Coïtus, so hard not to make a dumb joke about that).

Things have been rather calm on the upload-front last week, so i thought i'd make it up with a triple-post:

Set 1 is a repost (back by popular demand):
Club 55, 1991. Info in the original post. True RAVESTYLE!

Set 2 was recorded in Antwerp at the legendary Café d'Anvers in October 1992. The sound is more clubby/housy, after all this is the city where the Wonka-label was founded. I don't have an exact date, or the name of the dj (must be one of the residents at that time: Koenie? Steve Cop? ...) but it's defenitely worth checking out (and the tapequality seems very ok).

Set 3 is a 90 minute-mix recorded in a small local club called Chéops (closed down after a police raid if i remember well). It sets of rather calm in a true sunday-afternoon style, but after about 10 minutes in come the classics. The recording was dated 1991.

Extra set: while i was at it, i also did a new upload on the At The Villa post from some time ago, it's a dj-set by residents Marko & Johan, recorded in 1994 (nice thing about this set is that you actually here the crowd go mentall on the background ... and then there's the music)

Before the internet became part of our lives, clubbers stayed informed about nightlife thanks to flyers and magazines. One of those magz that was there from the beginning is Out-Soon magazine. What started as a collection of flyers has now turned into a true nightlife/lifestyle magazine.
Some years ago they hosted a few parties of their own, ... and guess what? Underneath you'll find a link to a recording that was made on one of those magical nights. It features a dj-set by Richie Hawtin, better known these days as "the min_mal king". The set was recorded 9 years ago, it's just as deep as what he plays nowadays, but let's say it's "a bit" harder/faster (better/stronger?)

I love acid (but that quote was claimed by Luke Vibert), and i can think of many great tracks, ... but if i had to take 1 record out of my collection, it would be "higher state of consciousness" by Josh Wink.
My all time favourite song! (that is, electronic)

As a dj it took him way to long to get the credits he deserves over here in Europe. Strangely enough his popularity has increased only the past few years, thanks to the minimal-hype, while his interests are much wider than this. "Variety" is the nice thing about the set underneath: a blend of acid, breakbeats, techno, a lot of house, some dubby and even progressive influences ...

This must be the look that made the french kitten popular.
As for music, i got in touch with her after the release of her Champagne ep (featuring the coky "Frank Sinatra" hit), a collaboration with The Hacker on the Intl. Deejay Gigolo label.
The set underneath was recorded 1 year after this release, and it sets off with a 30min. live-act of this duo (mind the Gameboy in the intro), then followed by a dj-set. The tracklist is very diverse, it starts with Prince's "When doves cry" and explores acid, techno, elektro, minimal (the real stuff) and even some booty kinda influences.
If you like this kind of diversity, try checking her Radio Caroline vol.1 mix-cd, the track-selection is very nice.

Years ago, the Fuse-club did some outdoor gigs, called "Fuse on the beach" ... nice memories: afternoon-parties at the Ostend beach, and at night a rave in the Ostend Casino. This same venue was also the location of Fuse 5th birthday, where Derrick Carter and Carl Craig hosted the house-room.
The main room was rather techno-oriented, i could be wrong but i think Green Velvet played that night (help me out and fill the cheese-holes in my brain).
Edit: seems like i was wrong, other "techno" guests that night were Luke Slater and Stacey Pullen.
The set underneath is a recording of the Derrick Carter-set. It's 100% house with a nice Chicago-drive. When i heard him play at Café d'Anvers a few years later he couldn't convince me in the same way as he does with this set. Agree?

It seems rather ridiculous to write an introduction to one of the biggest so-called superstar dj's of the past few years.

So i'm not going to :)

Cheesy as Bob's sounds may sound now, they're an insult to his early work, and the same goes for his dj-sets.

That's why i suggest you check this set from his early days, and hopefully you'll understand how he became so "big".

74 minutes of disco-influenced house, pure and uncut.

For those who don't know where Bob got his name, have a look at the video underneath. It's a trailer from the "Le magnifique" movie, featuring Jean Paul Belmondo as special agent ... Bob Sinclair.

If you ever get the chance: try and see it. It's one of the funniest french movies around. (if you're into James Bond kinda slapstick)

Lazy sunday (on a monday!), and not really the best weather outside ... so i did a little lounge-mix this afternoon. It's only 35 minutes, but you can always put it on repeat ;)
Maybe not the music some of you are used to, but hell, i thought to myself, i might aswell share it, even if it only makes 1 person happy. There's no real beatmatching involved, just some random tracks i like in one mix.
