claude young

If you're in for some heavy scratchin' & jugglin' Silo is the place to be on april 18th. Claude Young is coming over from Japan and will be playing alongside Steve Rachmad, Marco Bailey, Tom Hades and The Advent (live).
Underneath's a little something to get you in the mood: over 2 hours of Young, recorded back in '98. (Let's say a decade ago :p)

Claude Young also started a blog recently, you can interact with him over here.

Check some of his skills in this little movie.
And by the way, i'd hate to spoil the party but i wonder if he still plays with vinyl (check some of his more recent videos and you'll see what i mean).

Cop again

As promised here's another Cop set, recorded at Silo a little further back in time(that's right, they had a vivid techno-program in those days ... and luckily this hasn't changed if you see who's playing nowadays).

Steve Cop, Silo 11.11.95.

steve cop

A few weeks ago a friend of Steve Cop mailed me to see if i wanted to rip some of his tapes ... didn't take me long to decide :)

In the early nineties Steve did a few productions for the R&S-label as Sonic Solution (ao Beat time, and Ravesignal II together with CJ Bolland) but most of you probably know him as a dj.
A few of his residencies: H2o, Café d'Anvers and Silo (Loop-parties).
I'll try and share some of this stuff with you in the next few weeks.
The links will also appear on a new blog, dedicated to Steve only, in order to keep this collection alive. (Steve's friend runs his new blog over here).

Here's an apetizer on what's coming:

Steve Cop, Loop 21.11.97.

Félicitations à Sebastian Tellier qui représentera la France au festival de l'Eurovision 2008, un excellent choix. Douze points de ma part ;)
En plus: en Anglais? Times are a changin'!

who's warming up?

Time to take a little step into the unknown. I'm posting a mix ... but i'm not sure who's playing.
The thing i like about it is that it was recorded at the very beginning of the night, probably by one of the residents (Deg?).

While most of you know Fuse as a techno-club, early clubbers know you can often enjoy some laid back dubby tunes at 10 o' clock, followed by some lazy house, smooth techno and as time goes by: the stuff people really came for :)

An early night with the unknown dj, somewhere in 1999.

One of te tracks at the beginning of the set is The Orb's "Blue Room", my god how i love that track! While doing some research on youtube i discovered some other Orb footage: here's a little piece of the live-show they did in Vorst Nationaal back in '95, the track is called "Towers of Dub".

master reese

Sometimes i have the impression dj's used to play more crowpleasers back in the days (for me that's "the nineties"). Or is this a false impression and did the unknown tracks become classics as time passed by?

A question worth thinking about!

Anyhow, lots of classics in the sets underneath: Arkest Blaze, Women Beat Their Men, Bassline and Goodlife (his own stuff), the inevitable French Kiss, ... but also plenty of forgotten tracks and things to discover.

New stuff coming up, but first i'll try and keep a few people happy by reposting some sets that have been offline for a while, don't forget to read the original posts for some side info ;)

I'm a sucker for old rave-tracks, and it appears i'm not the only one ... check out this guy's youtube-page, it's full of vinyl-rips of classic '89-'92 tunes. Sure brings back some memories!
