The dj's i mean, not the band. Here's a 90 minute mix by Pierre & Deg, both residents at Fuse ever since the early days and still bangin' the floor every weekend in 2010 AD. This makes me wonder who else has had such a long residency in 1 club ... the only one i can think of is Marko at La Rocca (dunno if he's a weekly or a monthly resident there nowadays). Anyway, if you can think of someone else, drop it in the "comment"-box.
Over a month and a half since my last post ... let's say i've been rather busy doing other stuff (like partying my ass off from Antwerp to Leuven over Ghent).
First of all a happy new-year to all of you, hope you'll have some splendid parties in 2009.
This year will be rather busy for me (constructing my house), but i'll try to keep this blog alive be feeding it with some new sets every now and then.
First runner up: dj Marko, who will always be associated with La Rocca. Mind you, he had some other residencys to a.o. in the legendary At the Villa (Kooigem), but also at Fuse 2nd room BUMP (better known as the Motion-room). Round '96 he played on regular basis alongside dj Phi-Phi. The set underneath was recorded at the 2 years Fuse-night and it's my favourite Marko-tape. If anyone ever asks you what trance or club-music sounded like in '96, please offer them this tape.
Here's a nice set to end your weekend, start a new week, or look forward to whatever's coming your way. 90 minutes of Deg, the highly respected Fuse-resident.
What to expect? Uhm ... techno? More specific: a bangin' party-set, not the warming-up kinda stuff.
Just kidding, 2 weeks in Ibiza were great ... but now it's back to work again. Luckily i've got some tunes to keep me going :) Respect is still burning, as several people asked me to repost some old sets. Well, here's your chance to expand the collection. 2 reposts + a new set by Jef K (i actually thought i had posted this one but seems like i didn't, damn you Alzheimer!). This is house-music the way i like it.

Uhh, it's been a while but the past few weeks have been kinda hectec: i've got some constructing to do in my house (for the next few months ...) and that's taking a lot of my spare time.
But since all work and no play makes me a dull boy i decided to take some time off and i'm heading for Ibiza for about 2 weeks. (ow yeah!)
Before leaving i'm putting on a Dave Angel set recorded at Fuse. Have a listen, it's full on!
This thursday Studio Brussels turns into Studio Dada with a Teknoville-special (23hrs-00hrs). Expect some rare and hilarious footage, interviews with Rudy Victor Ackaert (Teknoville/Culture Club), Jeroen Roppe (former presenter) and Renaat Vandepapeliere (R&S) ... and of course some nice tunes.
As promised some time ago, here's another Teknoville goodie: my favourite Franky Jones set. Funky as hell!
"Good evening Brussels, tonight i'm gonna take you on a little tour ...". The tour is called "teknoville", and it features 2 excellent sets.
First one is the live-act Green Velvet did that night. His last album wasn't what i expected it to be, but his early works are incredible. I remember looking forward to every new record he made, because you just knew it was gonna be a bomb. Flash, Preacherman, The Stalker, ... they're all in this set, and because it's a live-act you can also here the crowd go nuts.

It's sunday, and i'm feeling housy thanks to Derrick Carter's set at Decadence last friday. What else to post but some good old Respect-tunes?
Here's a set Stuart Mc Lellan did back in '99. You may think "who the f* is ...?" Well that's what i was thinking too. Anyhow, even if you don't know him the set is definitely worth checking. Some featured tracks an memories:
E-Troneek Funk's "Everytime", one of my favourite tracks on the Famous when Dead compilations, and often played in H2o-club (white room).
Kenlou's "What a sensation": classic Masters At Work stuff, first heard it in an Amsterdam-tape (recorded at Escape club).
Moodyman's "I can't kick this feeling when it hits": reminds of the first 10daysoftechno at the Red Tape building.
I also have another recording of that same night featuring a live by The Micronauts and a Troublemen-dj set ... will post that one later.
To be honest i had my doubts whether i would post this set: the sound quality is ok and so are the tracks ... but the mixing isn't all that good (but that's not my fault is it?).
Consider this set "one for the fans" or a memory for those who were there (like me).
So why am i posting it now? Well, someone requested a re-post on the Derrick Carter-set recorded that same night and this one's highly recommended. If you haven't got it yet: grab it!
If you already have it, and you'd like to complete your collection: go for Carl Craig.

Time for another Fuse-resident post ... Trish. Belgium's leading techno lady has been spinning at the club since the early years.
Her style is very Detroit-influenced, and one of her all-time heroes is Derrick May. Her energy behind the decks is comparable, and so is the way she likes to cut cut cut the melody.
The set was recorded in march '98 ... oh crap, that's over 10 years ago.
It can't always be techno, can it? It took me a year and a half to post my first jungle-set. Or is it drum'n bass? Whatever!
I ripped this set from the Groove 21 night, organised and broadcasted by Radio 21 in 1995 . The line-up was very eclectic: Mo & Benoelie, Carl Craig live (a repost on those 2), A Guy Called Gerald live, Mark Broom, Jan & Niels Zanzi (whatever happened to those guys?) ... these are the ones i remember. If anyone has some further information on the rest of the line-up, please let me know.
As for the Mark Broom set: i'm not sure if it's really him behind the decks because it's a trip-hop set (i just based my info on the mc announcing him). So once again, some help id'ing this set would be nice.
Time to take a little step into the unknown. I'm posting a mix ... but i'm not sure who's playing. The thing i like about it is that it was recorded at the very beginning of the night, probably by one of the residents (Deg?).
While most of you know Fuse as a techno-club, early clubbers know you can often enjoy some laid back dubby tunes at 10 o' clock, followed by some lazy house, smooth techno and as time goes by: the stuff people really came for :)
One of te tracks at the beginning of the set is The Orb's "Blue Room", my god how i love that track! While doing some research on youtube i discovered some other Orb footage: here's a little piece of the live-show they did in Vorst Nationaal back in '95, the track is called "Towers of Dub".
Sometimes i have the impression dj's used to play more crowpleasers back in the days (for me that's "the nineties"). Or is this a false impression and did the unknown tracks become classics as time passed by?
A question worth thinking about!
Anyhow, lots of classics in the sets underneath: Arkest Blaze, Women Beat Their Men, Bassline and Goodlife (his own stuff), the inevitable French Kiss, ... but also plenty of forgotten tracks and things to discover.
New stuff coming up, but first i'll try and keep a few people happy by reposting some sets that have been offline for a while, don't forget to read the original posts for some side info ;)

It's techno-time again with a full set recorded in '99.
"Full", that means nearly 4 hours of music, divided in 3 separate downloads. As usual Väth puts a lot of variety to it ... setting off deep and funky, but pounding near the grand finale.
If you'd like to know what techno sounded like in '99, i'd advise you to check this, and that's a personal recommendation :)
My previous Respect-post has been a while, so here's one for the house-headz. That's right, Smagghe used to play house and he played it well! So underneath: a rip from a set he did at Fuse in '99, filled with some vintage French-touch, Basement Jaxx, Paul Johnson and some more bumpy tracks.
If you catch him nowadays (i'd advice you to) you'll probably here a more elektro/minimal kinda-sound. Still top-notch!
Or Aphrohead, Thee maddkatt courtship, Jamie starr scenario, Rocketmann ... to name a few of his aliases. Underneath is a 2h30-set by the Chicago kid and founding father of the Radikal Fear recordlabel, and as usual for my techno-rips it was recorded at Fuse.
The past few years Felix has been discovering new paths and as a dj/producer/remixer he was more into the elektro kinda approach. His Silver screen Shower scene-track totally relaunched his career and was a blueprint and instant classic for todays elektroclash-scene.
Check the set and maybe you'll already hear some elektro-influences in it, also pay some attention to the track at about 15-16min, imho it sounds a bit like an other elektro-anthem, released in 2001.
A while ago i did a post dedicated to T-Quest (an ex-Fuse resident), but if there's one dj who's been there since the early days, and who still rocks this club every weekend, it's dj Pierre.
Pierre started his carreer in the legendary 55-club (Kuurne), and a few years later he and clubmanager Peter Decuypere moved to the number 1 techno-club in Belgium. Pierre Noisiez is also responsible for one of my alltime favourite mix cd's: Dj connection presents Pierre.
Nowadays he's completely into hypnotic minimal sounds, never losing track of time he still does a great job every weekend. Besides being a dj he's also involved in the Lesizmo:r and Ltsmk concepts.
